Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway has a program for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of concussions. Athletes aren't the only people who get concussions. They can occur from bicycle or motor vehicle accidents or household falls. If ignored, concussions can lead to serious short and long-term complications.
Through the RWJ Rahway Concussion Program, which is ImPACT certified, expert medical evaluation and treatment can prevent or minimize these complications. ImPACT is the most widely used and most scientifically validated concussion management tool available, used by schools, college and professional sports teams and select military units.
The Concussion Program at RWJ Rahway is under the direction of Dr. Richard Schaller, Medical Director of Workplace and Ambulatory Medicine at RWJ Rahway. In addition to treatment and monitoring, the program provides access to physical and occupational therapists for balance and function. Specialist referrals are coordinated for persistent, unresponsive symptoms.
