Well known in the field of occupational and emergency medicine, Dr. Richard Schaller is a Board
Certified Emergency physician. He is the founder and former director of Complete Care Medical
Center in Scotch Plains. Complete Care began in 1997 as a multi-disciplinary practice providing
Primary Care, Physical Therapy and Chiropractic care. Two years later, Dr. Schaller added an Urgent
Care facility, as well as Workplace and Occupational Medicine. Complete Care now provides services
to hundreds of local employers and has an annual volume of 23,000 patient visits per year.
ImPACT trained and certified, Dr. Schaller is a trained Medical Review Officer and an expert in Federal Drug and Alcohol Workplace
Policies and Procedures. He is also an expert in the Federal Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Medical Certification Process and has performed thousands of CDL physicals. He is an instructor for
the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety and trainer at the Union County Police Academy.
He serves as the District Physician for the Scotch Plains Fanwood Board of Education, as well as
Union Catholic High School. He works closely with school nurses, athletic trainers and administrative
officials to provide medical services for the Board of Education.
He also heads the hospital's Concussion Program.
Dr. Schaller graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, summa cum laude with a degree in
Biology. A graduate of Penn State University College of Medicine in Hershey, he was trained in
Emergency Medicine at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Va.
